This is it.. A new post and a new company, ShovelCreative. I’ve been working closely with Shovel over the last 3 months under a contract and decided to take my talents to San Diego to pursue a web design and development position. During the last 3 months, I’ve worked on 5 sites all built on the WordPress CMS platform. There were a lot of growing pains in learning the ins and outs of it all, but I’m getting there.

Now Normally I wouldn’t brag about getting badass shirts (Yes, I totally would) but these shirts I just bought online at madebyparachute.com. They’re hand printed on American Apparel! And who doesn’t love American Apparel? If you answer, “I don’t like American Apparel.” Then you should be shot and blacklisted from comfortable clothing, you communist. But this pointless blahg post is just a self indulgence page to show off their talent and my lust for type t-shirts.
The End.

Here’s the new layout for the TakeAim Mobile site. This is still in comp mode and should be in development in a few weeks. The original site is here. TakeAim wants a whole new look and even a new logo (in development) to complete the whole new look. I have complete freedom with this design, so I took my time and highlighted the information that seems to be off to the side. These are just a few screenshots and the rest of the site should look great. Really excited to get going on designing the rest of the pages and then WordPress this site up. More details to come soon.

Yesterday, my site was featured on the Focus Designer Showcase of Awesome (I’m assuming because my site is on it) Websites. I have to think that they must have great taste. Here’s the link, in case you want another link back to where you are. FocusDesigner.com

Gus… Your mission should you choose to accept…
I had a previous client approach me and ask to do a site for them, but, it needed to be done in a day. Val Du Lakes: a concert location where all summer long they have all sorts of bands performing on a great stage. But to their dismay, ticket sales were just not there. So they needed a site ASAP. They had all these ideas for pages and design and functionality that was just not doable. So I designed a layout that was all in HTML, no fancy-ness in importing band information. It needed to be done quickly. So I created a one page slider with some slick jQuery stuff to move to pages that would’ve otherwise have no content. I have it on my own site, because the site is being updated with deleting band info. So to keep it in it’s original form, you can view it here. Enjoy.

I’m sure there are thousands of you who eagerly await my next post (even though Google analytics says otherwise) and I’m gonna give it to you.
Work has been fairly good to me as of lately. Working on a few new designs for The Daily News, which is going to be a complete overhaul from their current site. Built completely in WordPress (with the know-how of Andy Kraft) and giving it way more functionality for both the administrator and the viewer.
Dan Vos is also going to be getting the Gus ‘touch’ (which is perfectly acceptable and wanted). Also, this site will be built in WP and is going to rock the construction world.
SDSS *Solid Design Simple Solution* is creating a great market place for developers that I will be designing and developing for. More info on that later.

That’s right. After many weeks of designing multiple different layout possibilities, I’ve finally finished! Hooray for determination. And hooray for coffee and energy drinks. This was also a learning experience in both the HTML5 coding as well as the new WP 3.1.1. I hope you enjoy the new site and if you wanna drop a line and let me know what you think, do so.
